Somewhere in Nicaragua
Check out who’s mug is in the back of this photo – NSR’s Summer Intern, Mateo “the Pledge” Craig, was recently caught on camera making funny faces with Matthew McConaughey in SJDS. This shot was taken before Matt got piss drunk and had to be carried home (Matt McConaughey, not NSR Matt).
Now we know that the “Pledge” parties with the stars, lets get the report. This is Jairo “Come Pan” Panic and Mateo “Pledge” with the Sunday surf report. We headed out to the beach to find out that the swell had dropped off a little. It was still stomach to shoulder high with offshore wind. It was not as big as yesterday, but it was still pretty fun. Check it out!
Edwin “El Tuso” Morales was seen out there again today scoring some fun waves. This guy has been surfing really well lately, here he is with a solid roundhouse cut back.
Larry “Carita de Venado” Davila said he was going to go out there and attempt some new maneuvers. “Carita de Venado” is caught here, doing just that, mid flight over a section on this left.
It was a little overcast with some drizzle so we went into the restaurant to get some protection and ending up getting a nice shot. Here is an unknown rider on a fun right. When we were in here we met one of the employees and decided to interview her. Lets see how it went……
This is Kenia Maria who is from San Juan del Sur Nicaragua. She is 21 years old and works as a bartender at Playa Maderas. Her favorite beverage to sell is Tona or Victoria(Nicaraguan beers) because people seem more eager and happier to receive cervezas. She has been surfing for only one year and she wishes she had more free time to practice. She loves to go out and dance with her friends at the dicoteca to salsa and meringue music. Her favorite part of her job is that she gets to meet people from all different parts of the world and she gets to earn about their culture. It was nice meeting you Kenia, we will see you real soon!
This is Alverto “El Gallito” Romano with a smooth roundhouse. Normally “El Gallito” likes to get smooth with all the ladies at the beach, but because it was overcast the ladies were absent. Needles to say, he was quite bummed, but he managed to enjoy himself in he water.
That’s all we got for today. The swell is supposed to stay about the same, but we will be traveling to different spots to get some interesting pictures. Check back to see what we come up with. Later!

Hey amigos! Welcome to Thursday’s surf report from Panga Drops. There were some decent sized sets when they rolled through. The wind was light offshore, which made for a fun morning window.

This is Roberto with the surf report for today out here at Maderas. It’s head high on sets and the wind is offshore.
We’ve got lots of rain today, offshore winds and a good sized wind swell in the water. The waves aren’t the best form, but the beachbreaks are nice and peaky. We headed up to Colorado and found some ones. Here is Hot Carl, getting ready for the paddle out.
