My intention was to start at the spot were I thought the waves would be pumping and I’d find a bunch of friends out getting some big bomb barrels. Much to my surprise, there wasn’t a single person out and the waves looked like a lot of work, which is why I think everyone opted for Beer O’ Clock!
Throwing a hail marry, I jammed up to the reef with hopes to find someone taking a stab at the much bigger waves. Sure enough I saw my buddy Alberto (as always) surfing his favorite wave!
I saw him take a few really really big outside sets on the head before watching this nice looking clean and long right.
I’m not joking when I say that this wave was so long, after I counted the number of shots in the sequence, it was a whopping 157 frames. Hit me up Alberto to see it in it’s entirety!
I was surprised to see not only…..
But two other surfers coming out to play too!
Of course they had to paddle out through this. Trust me when I say it’s A LOT bigger than it looks!!
There was a bit of some waiting for a wave that wasn’t too big and completely walled out all the way from here to PC way down the beach.
This guy found himself a fun left and ended up getting a bunch of nice turns.
Those waves that were running too fast and long made it really tricky to get into and keep up with.
So sometimes you have to call it and just hit the eject button.
A small group heading back with their heads down feeling defeated since the waves weren’t that good at the beachie. Don’t be too sad guys…. there will be plenty more good days to come!!! July should be on FIRE!!! Let’s hope I’m right. Check back mañana to see what Baldo finds. Chao for now ~
