We got out there really early to try and catch the right tide. The sun wasn’t out yet, making for mediocre lighting. This is Luke from the big island of Hawaii!
Our amigo JJ was out here pulling in on anything and everything. Here he is with the classic pigdog stance, about to get pitted!
Here’s one of the not as frequent lefts that came through. Still a great wave as you can tell from this surfer about to get himself drained on his frontside!
Local ripper, Carlos was out and picking off some of the better waves of the day. Here he is in one of his many tubes from this morning!
Is the beating this kid is about to take worth the shot? Apparentely so as there were a couple kids pulling into closeout after closeout in front of the water camera.
Check out this young maje pigdogging on a super hollow section. Looks like a good chance he’s about to get deep inside this wave!
There were big peaks showing up at a couple spots down the beach. You can tell we had some good swell in the water!
Our very own Carl “Carlos Caliente” was out and nabbing himself some bomb sets. His first wave of the day was one of the best wipeouts I’ve seen in awhile. Here he is redeeming himself later on in his session.
Finding some time outside of the barrel to rip a big open face turn. Unknown, bleeding speed!
Pancho Sanchez made it out later this afternoon. It seemed like the moment he hit the water the wind turned onshore. Bottom turning on a thick, foamy, and sandy wave!
The young kids that were blasting fin wafts and airs didn’t mind the onshore wind at all. This is one of the Coffin brothers from California with a big frontside hack right before this wave closed down!
When I said airs, I meant to say BIG airs! Check out the height this kid has halfway through his rotation! Mr. Coffin again on this shot.
JJ had some incredible tubes out here. He started out on this one standing tall, hands free on his backside!
Another surfer, looking for some time in the tube on another epic wave! That’s all the action we have for you today. We hate to say it but it looks as though the wind will be onshore for possibly the rest of the week. Stay tuned and we’ll keep you updated on the wave report down here in Nica! This is Eric and I’m out!
RECENT REPORTS
Merry Christmas everyone! Josh back behind the lens for the next few days. This evening’s surf report is coming your way from Panga Drops. Today definitely had its moments, but the windows were difficult to hit.
FROM THE ARCHIVES
We are just going to throw a couple of shots in from this spot because the conditions were not very good. Here we have this unknown rider riding one of the cleaner waves we had in the morning during the little storm we had.
Welcome everybody to the Saturday surf report. This is Lucha Libre Garcia bringing all the surf action from today. The waves were super fun, running about chest to head high on sets with offshore winds and the water was super nice and warm. Check it out!!!
Welcome to the Friday surf report. This is Roberto “Lucha Libre” and Mateo “Pledge” bringing you the action. We headed up to Popoyo a day early to see what was happening at the beach. The waves were pretty fun running chest to shoulder high and head high on sets. The wind was offshore and the..
