Mr. Rob showing the non-locals where to sit and take off from at this shifty little wave magnet.
Oh Heeeeeyyy!! Its Barry’s Birthday and he can SUP if he wants to! Happy Birthday BIG BEAAARR DOG!!!
Actually Barry was out surfing multiple wave catching machines all session. Here he is back on his trusty Big Old Red Log.
The dude surfs anything… and he surfs each one well.
If you’ve ever surfed this wave, you know exactly all too well about this drop/takeoff. It’s a lot of fun, especially the bigger it gets! jaja
Mostly though this wave is all about making sections and surfing your best on wave faces that can change at any time.
Floating a section should definitely be in your surfing repertoire at this wave.
This guy’s going for a huge section… you think he made it??? If so, it’s all fun and games all the way to the sand.
This is also a good place for a goofy footer to stretch out on their backside technique; since this place is mostly dominated by lefts.
If you really want to show the crowd you know what you’re doing….
Just finish a nice clean wrap around with one of these!
and then come back around with one more of these on the inside.
and finish with this and I’m pretty certain, you’ll get the nod of almost any wave out there.
Of course, if you can pull this from your bag of tricks, most people in the lineup will stop surfing all together and just watch you.
Annnnnnnd then there’s Barry!
Watching him surf a SUP earlier like it was a longboard cruiser skateboard on the sidewalk…
and then jump back on his log and do fins first takeoffs.
The guy’s a mad surfing machine… but with style and grace like Muhammad Ali.
Big Bear Dog taking it literally all the way into the sand. Well done Brewww!
Even if you only have one surf fan, it’s all that matters!
I asked Barry to take out my silly little Price Mart board because I was convinced I forgot how to surf. He confirmed my suspicion by saying it’s the hardest surf object he’s ever tired surfing and turning on, thus making me feel a whole lot better! But here he is trying to get get himself a nice little Birthday barrel, on my little PM toy surfboard.
Long boards, short boards, skim boards, boogie boards, whatever it is that floats your boat, just do it, and be you. Just remember to always be cool in the water. This is what makes all the difference of what kind of surfer you are.
On a quick little non-surfing related note. This was our morning of fun here at Hacienda Iguana, where Casa Madera’s restaurant has been hosting all of the world cup games every morning with killer breakfasts and hospitality to match each and every day right up to the final today. Congratulations for France with the 2018 world cup win and sorry for all the Croatia fans. It was a good game. Looking forward to the next world cup in 4 years!!!
Alright my ocean minded friends. It’s been another fun day of waves and another week gone by of all sorts of swell and surf that hopefully tickled your fancy. Come back by again this week to see what we have going on in Nica Land. As always we thank you for checking out the surf report! Muchísimas gracias ~
