Nicaragua Surf Report for Friday, July 21, 2023

Josh S

Happy Friday everyone! We received a small bump in the swell for today’s report! Some tubes and some airs for your viewing pleasure.

I think the little pulse in the surf today slipped underneath most people’s radar. There were only about 10 surfers out when I was shooting and there were more barrels in the time I was shooting than the past three days combined haha.

I’m not sure this gentleman has the most functional pig-dog stance, but he got plenty of speed across on this one and earned some style points! I really like how he positioned his lead arm.

The river-mouth right even flickered on and off a few times while I was at the beach. This guy in the white hooded rash-guard was waiting very patiently for the highest quality sets down there.

Josh S

The lefts were definitely better today, in my opinion. They were round and reeling toward the beach, which is rare for here. Usually the lefts are quite almondy and bend out to sea.

Josh S

The white hoodie guy was loving life today! He pretty much had the peak to himself down there. Set after set for him today!

Josh S

I spy with my little eye… A grom playing hide-n-seek with us! He did well to tuck behind the curtain on this left and find some shade.

Josh S

The surfers in the water today did well to drop their back knees forward, which enabled them to tuck into tight yet wide low-tide runners.

Josh S

Is it lunch time already? This little dude is trying to tell us it’s about 12 o’clock. Maybe on EST haha

Josh S

Kenny made a return to the water today while nursing an injury. His injury didn’t seem to bother him on this tail-slide across the lip!

Josh S

Finley aiming to one up Kenny by taking to the skies. Hey Fin, maybe you need a third deck pad all the way at the nose for these airs haha!

Josh S

A rider in blue got nice and cozy sitting over the foam-ball on this super hollow left. This might’ve been the widest and cleanest tube I saw today.

Josh S

To close out today’s surf action we have one last helicopter spin from one of our visiting super groms. His shaper and fin company would be stoked with this shot as he’s got his board and fins flared out on display.

Josh S

Ahhhhh yep, another day in paradise. We really do have it good here in Iguana. I’m stoked we got some tubes sprinkled in today, as it could be micro again for the next 4 to 7 days! A summer without swell here in Nica?!?! I’ll see y’all for tomorrow’s report. Thanks for checking in and have a good one.
