Nicaragua Surf Report for Sunday, July 24, 2016

Hello everybody! We had the final day of th surf contest today, the swell dropped a little but the left stayed working very well. Check the action of the best surfer of Nicaragua.

The surfers gave there everything for every heat. We were feeling like every heat was a final.

When the tide starts getting low - the reef starts to be very shallow. The wave was more hollow. Check the section a little gnarly, it was making the competition a little exciting and dangerous.

Lester Espinsa from the NSR Surf Team is really friendly, but during the competition he was showing a little of his dark side. That was close and strong Braaa!.

The waves have a long wall, so during the low tide some of the waves were closing and the floaters were the perfect option to keep scoring.

The surf contest is the big meeting for the surf community of Nicaragua. Here shows 2 surfers of different teams stoked and congratulating.

The girls were charging. The right waves were super fun like this one.We have around 10 girls in the female catagory - and this chicas had no fear of surfing the reef.

We didnt see too many barrels today but here is a tubito. The wind started picking up a little more than yesterday during the afternoon.

Every heat was super tight. We saw only big names in every heat. This is the first time i saw every competitor really pushing there skills to the highest level they can. They knew they had strong rivalry.

The waves were around 4ft today. We didint need to wait long for the sets. The competition had good flow and every surfer could ride 6 plus waves.

Here are some of the best cuts from today. Will Bustos was following his waves through to the final.

Some regular footers found a ride and took a bunch making a lot of turns. Here is Wil Busto Kulinik representing Astillero.

Here is Juan Lopez surfing in his backyard. He was one of the favourites to win the surf contest. And this is why.

Another competitor surfing his homebreak ( Cesar Amador ) was reading the waves really good. Here he is in one of the few tubes going right. Yew!

It was hard for competitors from other beaches to pass through to the semi final. The locals were able to keep passing. Here is Samir Duarte the oldest guy from this beach showing his wisdom of this waves.

Samir always makes super good heats until the final. Really good for making cuts which stay consistant.

When the tide was coming up, the wave doesnt grow but this made a little more powerful. We saw some guys pulling through some tubos. During the semi finals the surfers started showing some rides a little more risky.

OK - was time for the open final and this surfer was putting all his energy in every trick. Cuts are good - but you neeed to show up your style if you want to win.

And this is the air 360 to make the difference. We didnt see to many of these today, but Sean Pearson is a concrete competitor and he knows what to do.

The way to win the contest is if yourisk everything. Sean puts 100% or nothing and he made it.

He made a perfect landing and we know this trick had a high score.Sean is always in the finals and knows this beach really good.

Is always good to see the master catagory champions. These guys keep the vision for the young surfers. We wanna be just like you guys when we grow up.

Congratulations to ( El Niño ) for keeping the podium. Watch out Estuar is coming up close to you!

The Resano girls keep in the podium like its there home. Congratulations girls - you are building the history here in Nicaragua for women.

Here ae the guys from the longboard catagory. Congratulations Alexander, Tito, Oscar and Ruufuu for the participation.

So here are the champions from the open. 1st pace Sean Pearson, 2nd place Cesar Amador, 3rd place Juan Lopez, 4th Kevin Cortez. Congratulations guys! Keep rocking!

Ok. Amigos have fun and see you tomorrow in another surf week. Armando lopez is out.
