Somewhere in Nicaragua
Hey amigos. A special Friday surf report coming in hot from Colorados. The wind was funky around 3:30pm today, but there was a sudden sunset glass off and it turned on for some lucky surfers.
Finley gets to open today’s report with some pizzazz. Sold mechanics during this turn.
Now for the winner or MVP of this evening’s session, Koji-san!
He got the best barrel of the evening. As I was taking photos and it approached dark, more and more gems like this marched through.
Deep and good technique. He’s set himself up for success here.
He traveled in there for a while. Yuji got the best of the bros last swell, so it was nice to see Koji take the spot-light this evening.
Uh oh! Looks like he’s found some friction with the lip.
He’s busting through. Now he just has to keep his balance and composure while his board and momentum take care of the rest.
Mission complete! Now for a big hair flip to clear his vision.
To put the cherry on top he followed up the tube with a roundhouse. Excellent work Kojer.
An unknown rider shooting through a clean round right further South. There were definitely some tubes to be had this evening.
Yuji didn’t get the barrel of the day today, but he earned some points with this big snap.
I was surprised that there were so many corners this evening for turns even though the tide was very low.

Finley executing some textbook body mechanics yet again. This time through his bottom turn.
A big rooster tail to fan his feathers. Finley always surfs with a chip on his shoulder, i.e. with something to prove.
Another crispy clean right from down south to close the report. I was pleasantly surprised with our perfect mini-window this evening. Congrats to all the surfers who got a piece of it. Hasta mañana.

Happy 4th of July! The size of the surf dropped notably today. There were still good sets, but patience was key (again). Hard to believe there were no takers on this one!
