Somewhere in Nicaragua
Happy Friday all you amazing people! I hope your week has been a good one. Today, for us is really good, because it quite possibly could be the end of our small wave spell. That’s right… the forecast and buoys are looking good staring this weekend and should be that way for some time. Until then… enjoy one of (hopefully) the last times you’ll have to see surf below the belt in Nica-Land after today. Kampai!
Nando is a fan of any kind of waves, really. Although he prefers a little more push and gusto to go with his power turns. Let’s see how he fares the next week or so, adjusting back to the standard of premium waves we’ve all come to love and appreciate here!
Lucas is kind of a “new comer” to the surf scene here, but that doesn’t mean he’s any different. Anyone who’s spent any amount of time here knows, this place it plenty special.
Lock down, no lockdown, mask , no mask, there’s one thing that’s for certain. We all feel the same when we’re surfing!
Always good to see people catching the surfing bug. If you ever catch yourself mocking or making fun of anyone in the beginner stage… just remember… you didn’t come out the womb as Kelly Slater. So throw a shaka…. tell em they’re doing a good job! And remember… its all about having the most fun more than anyone on land!
If you really want to mix things up… just throw a monkey wrench in your surfing comfort zone. Try a new type of surfboard or shape or length. Heck, I have some very seasoned veterans of surfing friends who recently tried their hand at foil boarding. They told me… “Dude, it’s like learning to surf ALL OVER AGAIN!” If that doesn’t rattler your inner stoke, I don’t know what else will.
Like this guy, Carlos. He surfs, he kites, and he foils (amongst many other cool talents). Get out there…. push your boundaries. I mean that’s what life’s really all about right?
Josh is no stranger to experimentation. Lucky for him, he’s done it in some of the most exotic and pristine surf locations all over the world thanks to the work he does. I’m just stoked he calls Nicaragua is home!
This is our version of 1-2 foot day. Can’t wait for the 4-5 days coming soon…..!!!!
Do you prefer frontside or backside?? I just had a pretty interesting conversation about this with a friend recently (whom actually is the same as me and is regular footed). Believe it not, we both agreed backside is a bit more fun!

Just a few people paddled out today, which made it easier to work with the conditions. Plenty of waves for everyone!
