Somewhere in Nicaragua
Hello all! Heather “aka quesos” reporting from our headquarters in Hacienda Iguana. A few months ago I spent the morning down in Gigante with friend and program director Bo Fox of Project Wave of Optimism (WOO). Bo shared with me some past, present and future projects that have and will tremendously change the lives of the locals living in the village of Gigante. One project that really caught my attention was the “Woo Bus”, which transports 35 highschool students daily to a school located more than 10 miles away (there is not other closer highschool!). I was also impressed with the after school program and the newest project- a community health center.I was really amazed with the impact this project has made on the 386 person community of Gigante. I have been meaning to bring attention to this program for awhile now, but between helping run the business, being a wife, mom of 2 and trying to squeeze in some surf….. things always take longer than expected. Today Roberto “Lucha Libre” and I carved out some time to get some photos and info up on the site.So what is WOO? In Bo’s words, “Project Wave of Optimism (WOO) is a leader in forging partnerships with emerging Latin American surf tourism destinations. WOO delivers collaborative programs to improve the village’s quality of life and engage locals in the decision-making and management of their community’s development. The waves were kinda fun today, running about chest to shoulder high on the bigger sets, winds were nice offshore and the water was great. Check it out!!!
I spent a second day with the guys from Brazil. They all were stoked to get some waves. Guille taking it back home with a cool round house.
Luiz found himself into a couple of nice barrel sections today. Here he is caught enjoying the view on a nice right hander.
Antonio made it out today, and he rode a couple of decent ones. This guy lives in New York and he doesn’t get so surf very often. So, today he was happy to get some.
Alex took the Mango Alaya out for a while and he had a blast on that thing. Here he is dropping into a nice right on his backside.

A couple of other guys paddled out and they were shredding up all over the place. How about this guy throwin’ down a nice hack.
A few old and big surfers were down the beach, doing their thing as well. Here we caught this one going over the top on this nice left.
Today I found Ted on the beach, a guy that I met a few years ago. He made it out and he was able to ride some fun ones. Get in that pocket my friend!

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a great Fourth! Saturday’s report is coming your way from Colorados as per usual. It was smaller today, but very shreddable. Still a few tubitos too.
Happy 4th of July! The size of the surf dropped notably today. There were still good sets, but patience was key (again). Hard to believe there were no takers on this one!

Hola amigos, the surf was kinda small today but super fun today. It was running about waist to chest high with some shoulder high waves on the bigger sets, the winds were nice offshore and the water was great. Hola Raaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnndy!!!
Hola, Eric here with Monday’s surf report. The waves were kinda small this afternoon, we had a nice offshore wind blowing all day though and that was grooming the waves nicely. Warm water and a little bit of a crowd in the water. Check it yo!
