First, I’d like to wish a NICA hermano Mauricio “El Turbo” Targa a happy birthday!! He’s a long time friend to NSR and an awesome guy in our community. Feliz cumpleanos hermano y espero que todo salga muy bien. Vamos a celebrar esta noche!!

Because of Turbo’s day, there is a big party at Sidebar tonight. Swing by later this evening for a burger, beer, and tunes. We’ll all be hanging out so make sure you come by!!

Ok let’s talk surf now. Surf wise, it was kind of funky this morning. Let’s start by explaining the past couple of days (if Brian and Baldo haven’t already). Remember that small short period swell, pockets of onshores, and heavy rains? You can thank whatever tropical storm just passed the Yucatan peninsula of Mexico for that change up pitch.

I’ll cue you in on some local knowledge: when the low pressures cruise through the Gulf/Caribbean, the winds change. We are a glass half full crew so crummy onshore surf means fun fishing/diving and rain for the locals!! Now, the system is on it’s way out and we are getting some better cleaner surf (and a couple of these spitters too).

Good timing too, huh? The winds are cleaning up just in time for this swell! Swell is filling in right now so we should have a few funs days of waves. Fingers crossed that everything “bad” is out in time for the “good.”

A lot of people were going for the barrels. Of course, that’s what this beach is all about. However, it was slightly funky and lined up so many muchachos settled for shredding.

Like my primo Chase. Chase visits us every year for the consistent surf, luxury vacation rentals, and good times (and maybe because he’s good friends with the owners too…). Welcome back down bro!! Let’s go surf and dive some more.

Some other amigos were in this morning’s lineup. For the past few days, we’ve been seeing a lot of whales swimming, jumping, and playing around. Make sure you respect the locals and keep the beach clean!!

I can’t wait to see what this swell brings us… Hopefully more right nugs like this. Fingers crossed!

How about sharing a little love with the reef break too??? This spot was accepting the swell a little better; however, it doesn’t barrel. Tradeoffs and tradeoffs…

Stan is cool with that and still stoked. How much better is this than the East Coast?!? I would have killed for a long rippable wall in Virginia…

Stan is with Chase’s group so we wanted to hook them up with a couple shots and shoutout on today’s report. Keep enjoying that NSR Beach House, the 16oz Tonas, and Salvadorra’s cooking!

Ok damas and caballeros, it’s time to wrap things up and see what the night brings. See y’all at Sidebar, right?!? Thank you all for checking today’s goodies and we’ll see you for tomorrow’s swell action. Dale pues primos!!
