Nicaragua Surf Report for Monday, August 13, 2018

Brian Scott

Hola and welcome to the Monday surf report. It’s back to the grind… well if I can really even call my work a grind when I get to play in super fun waves every day. Hit that read more tab to see what I’m referring to!

Brian Scott

That’s right. New swell means lots of little get-a-ways. Because that’s what surfers do.

Brian Scott

Here, one of my new amigos getting away from his away trip. Showboating for a boat load of other get-a-way dudes!

Brian Scott

Marcelo finding his rhythm at his new favorite wave in Nicaragua.

Brian Scott

This is the proud smile of one happy get-a-way surfer right there!

Brian Scott

One of my other new buddies joining in on the fun today, Kiko (AKA “Frank Zappa”) letting his mustache do the talking.

Brian Scott

This guy’s a riot! Every single wave he got (which was quite a bit today) he always has this super huge grin on his face.

Brian Scott

Of course, when he was running the gauntlet on this inside section of rocks, table tops and crustacean covered below sea level boulders, things got a little more serious.

Brian Scott

But as you can see… that infectious smile always came back every single paddle right back out.  Now you see why I gave him the nickname “Frank Zappa”.

Brian Scott

My other amigo and longtime visiting friend, Sergio, is getting warmed up for the next few bigger days.

Brian Scott

Today was the beginning of the new swell, which was why we chose this place to surf today. It was prefect for this pace. Uncrowded and perfect with two of your best friends out sharing waves at an amazing Nicaraguan point break.

Brian Scott

What else would you rather do on a Monday???

Brian Scott

I’m sure meeting the reef with your face isn’t one of them, but don’t worry, that’s not what happened here. I don’t think? Kudos to this guys for going for it though!

Brian Scott

Had he continued on his journey to cruise past me, this is where he might have been.

Brian Scott

I was stoked Marcelo had that bright green watch on. I think I asked him what time is was only once out in the lineup today. That was of course only to check the time for the tide.

Brian Scott

The tide was actually helping to improve the waves here this morning. Notice the size was also increasing with the incoming swell.

Brian Scott

If you’re lucky to have surfed this wave with minimal to no people out, you can appreciate how fun this wave can be.

Brian Scott

Now throw in a couple cameras shooting you and you’ve got yourself your very own mini “pro” surf trip all to yourselves.

Brian Scott

Every moment caught so you can go back to your Casa later and cheers some beers with your buddies and heckle the sh!t out of each other.

Brian Scott

Sergio say’s “that sounds like a Great idea”!!

Brian Scott

Getting hooted at by your buddies on the shoulder, as you’re taking your twenty something wave for the morning always helps relieve a little bit of that noodle arm syndrome each paddle back out.

Brian Scott

Just be sure not to get caught by these little freight trains.  They’re pretty but they pack a nice little punch.

Brian Scott

Marcelo, taking the high line…

Brian Scott

before taking the low line.

Brian Scott

and then using all that speed to lay into a nice big carve like the one you see here.

Brian Scott

A more pulled back view of the amputheater of our little Pompeii.

Brian Scott

What a prefect place for Frank Zappa to perform some of his solo work.

Brian Scott

What a legend!

Brian Scott

Size does actually matter at this place. Too big and it’s not as fun as say a day like we scored today.

Brian Scott

That and the other thing to consider is the viscous high tide backwash. Can you say hang on…. bucking bronco!!!

Brian Scott

I wasn’t lying when I said we had a small stealthy crew. We came small, but the stoke level we left with, was HUGE!!!

Brian Scott

Beat it you Barney’s!! jajaja said the salty old pelican. Alrighty mis amigos… it was a fantastic day out on the open ocean. Lets see what tomorrow throws our way. Stay tuned, I think it might be as fun, or maybe even better. Hasta pronto ~
