The calm before the storm, nice and glassy!
I knew where I needed to head quickly after I saw the sky turn dark. Stoked we have some palapas to take cover under here at our beloved beach club.
Although I needed a quick shelter from the incoming elements, it was hard to take my eyes off the perfect Teepee A-frames coming through.
Once the rains started to come, it was kinda hard to tell who was who out there in those perfect little drainers; but when you shoot people here regularly, you get pretty dialed in with everyone’s style and what you ride.
So before zooming in, I know this was Big John Gillem, gliding through on a nice little gem in the perfect storm.
I say perfect storm because it literally made the conditions all that more magical. Hot Carl agrees!!
Check out that downpour!
Scott and a few other local surfers here are getting pretty psyched for their upcoming trip to Indo.
This is all just some basic training for that Indian Ocean perfection they’re about to score very soon.
Paul and Guillermo just got in and have already been scoring some super fun waves. I hope we see the same kind of waves for mañana’s sessions amigos!
What a clean, little dirty wave. Contradictory? Perhaps, but still looks ridiculously fun!
This chica saw the same waves peeling and figured the rain is just a bonus, since it usually helps thin out the crowds a little.
Someone mentioned to me this fella is a pretty big guy. Like in the mid 6 foot 250+ range. Something about pro volleyball player or something… Anyhow, when you consider his spray in this shot, those would be facts are even more impressive!
I saw Hot Carl get out a little earlier, as I’m sure he was surfing for quite a while before I showed up. But when I saw him running back down, I knew, he knew what I knew, which was that when its good like this, you simply go back out.
And check out his rewards.
Like a rewards club card …
one that just keeps on giving.
Yeah Carl! Fired up for that trip coming up or what??
Beach horse back riding has taken off here. It’s not uncommon to see people out every day at sunset time doing this great exhilarating activity… but check out that right in the background going unridden. So you see, there are many things to do while you’re here.
We might have not had one of our epic sunsets tonight, but the sky was all electric and fully lit up right up until I had to shut it down and come write up this fun little report. Hope you enjoyed and check back tomorrow to see what we have to close on for this great weekend! Nos vemos ~
RECENT REPORTS
Hey everyone! Welcome to Tuesday’s surf report from Panga Drops. The swell was notably stronger than I expected. Some early season Pacific power! Middle peak was the place to be, but it was windy.
FROM THE ARCHIVES
