Today we had a few surfers out in the lineup… ok maybe a tad more than a few, but everyone out was having a blast.. like Lesther here.

This was George’s last day today, as he parted out (got out of the water) I’m pretty sure, literally about 5 min before his taxi came. As you can see, this guy moves a lot of water around. I will be super stoked to see him back down when we have some proper 10 foot barrels he can stand tall in, maybe not this trip, but next one buddy!

Even the micro groms were ripping.

Paul, much like George would have preferred some bigger surf while they were here, but this definitely beats any regular SoCal day by far. Good thing we have the new airport 10 min away for that next stealth trip hermano!

If there were to be any barrels on a non-barreling day, this is one of the the guys who would find it.

Since there wasn’t a lot of barreling wave opportunity out there today, it makes sense why this grom chose to work on his above the lip game; and what a great effort he made too!

This wave is synonymous with barrels. Which is why people come to surf this place. If tubos are your thing, you can rest assured that you will get barreled here at some point, maybe even the best one of your life.

My other new amigo Steve (haha still tripping on the mutual Schell buddy thing btw) found some pretty fun little warm water nugs considering this was just a quick little stint down here. Looking forward to our next link up with a little more proper Nica swell next trip hermano!

Local fixture and all around super cool dude, John G knows how to get some of the best set waves here on any given day.

Here, one of John’s compadres of the LB persuasion lights this place up like a stick of dynamite, riding his log like a shortboard.

We had some nice company out there too today with some great chica presence. Tatiana, getting inspired for her nights menu dish(es) via some good ol’ salt mixed with 2 parts stoke.

This chica grom was laying down some fine lines on every wave I saw her on. It’s always cool to think or wonder whether someone like this little one might be on the WSL, representing for the Women’s Championship tour one day?

There were also some bigger groms out there too, pulling some even crazier maneuvers. Just goes to show how common it is nowadays for up and coming rippers to come and utilize this place as a good practicing ground to hone them skills in.

Ditto on everything I just said on that last slide, the same exact thing applies to the Jr, up and coming men as well!

There have been Pros, semi pros, even sponsored non-competing professionals (free-surfers) and everything in between who have scratched Nicaragua off of their to do list. Many of them still come back on the regular too. I think it might have something to do with our ridiculously consistent surf, maybe?

Because out of nowhere, on a pretty average day here, these kind of little things pop up, often; hence making one call a pretty average day here, not so average.

and then sometimes you look a little further North and the darn grass is greener; but it’s really just a different type of grass.

I hate to sound cliche, but this place currently looks so green from all the wet rains we’ve been having. Paul is just doing his part to help with the rain.

Stoked and stoked. That’d be me being stoked that I met Paul and hopefully he and his fun crew had a super fun stealth quick trip down. Until next time buddy!!

Same goes with my other new amigo, Steve….

Don’t be shy buddy! Come back real soon hermano!

Guillermo a usted también! Super estupenda de haber conocido a todos ustedes. Esperamos que te ayude a planificar tu viaje.

That smile is contagious and a super big shaka back atcha amigo!

Just as one of my all time favorite quotes simply states, and look who’s winning the game on every level ~ “The best surfer out there is the one having the most fun.” ~ Phil Edwards

Here’s to greener hillsides and sunny days in between the rain, as we gear up for our wettest part of the season. You can’t have one without the other. Embrace it, enjoy and keep smiling amigos! SBS is out (for now) ~
