Nicaragua Surf Report for Wednesday, August 21, 2024

Josh S

Hey everyone, Josh here for the next few days. This Wednesday morning the waves were small, but clean and playful. No complaints.

Josh S

This guy in black caught what was probably one of the better rights of the day. Unfortunately he received a falling snowball. It’s fine and dandy to back surfers up, but when doing so it is important that when you pull back you do so in a manner that DOESN’T apply downward force on the lip.

Josh S

Bauti flaunting his laid back style.

Josh S

Tuck ’n duck! I don’t know how, but this surfer managed to squeeze into and out of this little barrel.

Josh S

Many of this morning’s surfers were looking for tubes because the waves were so clean. That wasn’t the case for everyone though. This shredder taking to the backhand slash attack.

Josh S

It’s important to extract full value from your rides when it is small and a bit slower. Good combo sir.

Josh S

Ooohh! Good mechanics and power being utilized by this female shredder. Powerful moves are always impressive coming from ladies who generally have lighter frames and are more delicate in their movements.

Josh S

There were more rights than lefts this morning, but the lefts were just as good on the sets.

Josh S

Whitt looking to work his way up to the mid-line of this right runner. His vision is definitely correct.

Josh S

It’s been a while since Nacho made the report, so it’s nice to bring him back behind the curtain. Looks like he hasn’t forgotten how to pull in!

Josh S

Now for a special barrel of the day sequence to close the report.

Josh S

This guy took off really deep. I kept taking photos, but I’d written him off at this point of the sequence.

Josh S

Oh? Some signs of life. But his back is literally against the wall here haha!

Josh S

He’s made it over the foam ball, then he survived getting slapped on the back by the lip. Let’s see if he can hang on ’til the end.

Josh S

Dang, this guy seriously covered some ground and logged some time in the tunnel.

Josh S

Mission complete. He’s out! Definitely today’s best barrel.

Josh S

Kaboom! Good thing he got out in front of the lip before the end-section shut down. Tomorrow will be pretty small too, but be sure to check in and see what the ocean throws us.
