Nicaragua Surf Report for Saturday, August 24, 2024

Josh S

Hi everyone! Saturday surf report coming your way from Colorados. The photos don’t fully capture the size today, but the size definitely picked up a little bit relative to yesterday.

I took photos this morning when the tide was high, so most of the surfers were focused on turns and using their rail instead of looking for barrels.

This surfer drove through a big slash. His fan of spray almost looks like an angel wing extending from his trailing arm.

The waves at high tide were fairly soft so today’s surfers did well keeping their turns tight and in the pocket. Getting out of the pocket during your maneuvers is risky business when the waves aren’t very fast.

One of the only surfers to find some shade at high tide this morning. There were definitely some fun tubes closer to mid-tide and low-tide later this morning.

This guy leveraged his speed and the crisp wind to throw a couple liters of water out the back.

Staying nimble and on rail were the keys to success this morning.

Buzz on an endless right peeler down at the south peak. I bet he was pretty stoked on this wave. I think he rode it for 25 seconds haha.

You can see this surfer starting to recompress down toward his board and lowering his center of gravity so that he can nurse his way through the completion of the move. When it is soft like this morning you definitely gotta stay low and recompress after your move in order to maintain speed and ride through it.

The lip of this wave is feeling some pain right here haha! Fin slash!

A few more of these rolled through later in the morning… Gems were out there to be found if you were patient. Tomorrow should be a touch bigger and Mr. Tony Zeta returns to bring us Sunday’s action. Thanks for checking in and have a good one.
