Nicaragua Surf Report for Thursday, September 05, 2024

Josh S

Hey everyone! Wow the early birds were generously rewarded this Thursday morning at Playa Colorado!

Josh S

The waves turned on while I was shooting photos around maybe 8:00am or 8:30am. It started to become the case that there were more quality waves than there were surfers to ride them in the lineup!

Josh S

You like double-ups? There were some of those too!

Josh S

Speed and barrels were what were on the menu this morning.

Josh S

I think there was a fair amount of West in the swell as the rights were strictly dominating the lineup.

Josh S

I chose to share this entire sequence here, as this was the best wave that I’ve seen here in some time.

Josh S

This guy and his future go-pro viewers are and will be loving this vision. This wave was very wide and crispy clean.

Josh S

You probably can’t appreciate how deep this guy because I am shooting into the tube, but this guy was definitely in there.

Josh S

Section one is nearly complete. But this tube wasn’t gonna close anytime soon haha. I am forcing myself to wake up early from now on after missing the window today.

Josh S

I can’t get over how good this wave was.

Josh S

Section two shaping up beautifully.

Josh S

Things are still looking good, but I’m a little concerned with how our surfer has transitioned to his heel-side rail ever so slightly.

Josh S

Uh oh, it looks like he’s going for the doggy-door. He’s got all the space in the world to make it out normally though!

Josh S

Mortal Kombat: FATALITY

Josh S

And the barrel of possibly the past two weeks continues to reel on. Unfortunately without our surfer. He did nail the first part of the tube though.

Josh S

Surely you’d agree with me that this wave was an 11 pointer right?

Josh S

At long last the closeout section is entering the picture.

Josh S

Although this oncoming section did close the curtains on the wave, the guy would’ve had so much speed if he had taken just one more pump over his toe-side rail. He would’ve been launched and shot out of this cannon of a tube well before this closeout section would’ve got him. Next time!

Josh S

Right after right. And it all vanished after 11:00am haha!

Josh S

A high-risk floater from this rider. I think everyone’s adrenaline was pulsing hard this morning.

Josh S

Mutated double-ups for breakfast? Yes please!

Josh S

Lesther paddled out as I was wrapping up my photo session, but I bet he got a couple crazy tubes before the winds turned on us.

Josh S

This visiting surfer getting his money’s worth of his trip with some high quality tunnel vision here.

Josh S

"And everybody’s hands go up!” Congrats to all of you who scored the morning window. The wind looks finicky and fickle over the next few days, but we’ll see if we get some more magic windows.
