Nicaragua Surf Report for Friday, September 08, 2017

Brian Scott

TGIF amigos & welcome to the start of the weekend surf report. As expected, the onshore winds have come (which we knew would happen due to the mayhem that’s hitting the Atlantic ocean side from Hurricane IRMA right now). There are a lot of people here who have friends and family from the east coast and many of us who live here are from there, so we’re all pulling for you guys and hoping you the best in the next 48-72 hours! Stay safe amigos!!

Brian Scott

Jumping into what we had for the late afternoon surf… this is what we had served up for the west coast side of things.

Brian Scott

Plenty of shredding going down, despite the onshore messy waves.

Usually you won’t see too many groms here this time of year, due to school being back in session. That is, unless you’re either homeschooled, or playing hooky; and man if its the latter, that has got to be one of the best hooky pranks of all time. “Um… ya, Mrs. Reynolds, I was like, in Nicaragua detained because my passport got stolen”.

This guy has front row seats to the gun show.

Brian Scott

Speaking of Guns, check out how ripped Josh is now.. (used to be little Josh) no he’s all grow’d up ripped Josh! and he’s ripping!

I’m pretty sure I recognized the two boards this guy and his friend paddled out on. I believe they were the brand new rental Firewire boards from NSR. That’s like scoring a brand new rental car at Avis, only better. Zero miles with flex and bounce like any new surfboard rides. You should check out the quiver at the newly rebuilt shop if you have a chance. It’s definitely advantageous to rent a board as opposed to paying and dealing with all the hassle of bring your boards down. You can also check out the boards online before you come down here : www.surfnsr.com/nicaragua-surfboard-rentals

I say raise your arm if you love the feeling of a new shred stick under your feet? Agree’d 100% amigo!

Brian Scott

Josh, you too? I see a pattern here today.

Brian Scott

There were some talented people out this afternoon, for sure. It’s not easy to make it look easy in the kind of surf like we had out there.

Brian Scott

Sometimes its fun just to end your session watching the surf while the sun goes down. Taking it all in.

Brian Scott

We always have those last minute peeps too, who I see paddle out at like, 5:30 which basically means they have about 30-35 min left of decent visible light to surf in. The rest is and will aways be a mystery for those that stay after that, because you can’t see anything.

Brian Scott

This hermana is getting in her last waves of the day quota met! It was breezy, but very warm onshore breezy. And the water temps were like bathwater.

Brian Scott

Same with this hermano… stylish cool board with an unusual rashy of choice; but the smile that you can’t miss under that groovy mustache says it all for today!

Brian Scott

This is the golden hour! My favorite time to shoot! It’s very short and if you blink, you could miss it.

Brian Scott

But its when everything comes together perfectly right at the end of the light of day - sort of the feeling as sun rise. But closing time!

Brian Scott

Like Rodrigo and Diego here, they didn’t want to miss it either! Glad I snapped off a few of you guys, so now you have your sunset selfies, and also mine from pulled back and here on the Surf Report! How was that sun melting into the ocean amigos?!?!?

Brian Scott

Well there it is. Not a bad day really. Could be a lot worse definitely! Stay tuned in for the weekend, I’ll be (hopefully) chatting with family firsthand living in Florida, so I will try and update what I find out, including with what we have going on here. But keeping fingers crossed and sending hugs and prayers to everyone being effected by the Hurricane right now! Sleep well.. see ya soon!
