Nicaragua Surf Report for Wednesday, September 13, 2023

Josh S

Hey everyone! Josh back behind the lens for the next few days. Welcome to Wednesday’s surf report from Colorados. The swell showed up today, but wasn’t quite as consistent as I was expecting. It was one of those days where you had to be at the right place and the right time to get the really good ones.

Josh S

Kevin Cortez got the first barrel of my photography window today. As expected from one of Nicaragua’s best surfers.

Josh S

Nobody was out at Pangas, but I saw some appealing waves roll through over there.

Josh S

Shakespeare should’ve said, “To go or not to go?”

Josh S

This unknown local fella got a few nice waves this afternoon while I was shooting. Here’s one of the few lefts that came through.

Here’s our barrel of the photo window award. This guy get’s a highlight sequence for his graceful surfing on this right.

Josh S

He did a casual and relaxed check turn up into the barrel.

Josh S

Now it’s time to tap the breaks! Dragging his trailing hand and applying some pressure over his back foot.

Josh S

Logging some time in the shade.

Josh S

He even disappeared for a bit! This was a gem of a wave for sure.

Josh S

And he snuck out just before the closeout section. Nicely executed.

Josh S

Once again, today was a day of patience. The waves would pulse for 20 minutes, then go quiet for 20 minutes, repeat. But if you were in the appropriate spot there were definitely some good ones to be had.

Josh S

The rights definitely dominated the lineup, but the lefts were surprisingly more consistent at high tide when I was shooting. This guy traveled a good ways on this one.

Josh S

To close today’s report, we have another short barrel sequence from an unknown goofy rider.

Josh S

He did well to tuck under the lip just in time on this right. He’s using my favorite move, the pig-dog!

Josh S

He also snuck out of the top of the barrel just in time before the wall in front of him collapsed. The barrels were open today, but good timing on entry and exit were key to success.

Josh S

Yeah Kev! It was nice to see you back in the water today weaving through some good tubes like usual. Rest up for tomorrow, as it looks like it should be pretty good again. Be sure to check back in for more quality waves :)
