Today is a beautiful day. Earlier in the morning we had a nice little rain, maybe more like a drizzle but it was for sure nice. It cooled down the morning and mad it easier to hang out at the beach and take photos.
It was a little bit too early for the tide but there were already three people in the water when I got to the beach. There were still some fun ones on the sets and many went unridden.
But just a few minutes later Jan and Aurelia from The Surf Sanctuary showed up, ready to wait and take the ābigā ones from the sets so no wave could go unridden.
Check out their quiver: straight-line rails, noseless surfboardsā¦ should be fun to try them, maybe next time I find them in the water Iāll ask them to let me catch one or two waves with their boards.
Look at the right on this empty wave, somebody should be there under that lip, itās just a shame for a little wave like that to be alone.
This is the only barrel that I saw today, the kid had to crouch down tight to get in the there but he managed to come clean out of it.
A great thing about surfing at Santana beach is that almost every day you will see one or two pangas coming back from fishing. Their normal catch includes Snappers, Jacks, Tunas, Mackerels, Roosters, and many others.
So, next time you come to the beach bring some cash in a Ziploc bag, pick whatever you want and bring back home a few of these bad boys for a yummy fish taco or have it Nica styleā¦ whole fried fish with a nice tomato and onion sauce! (mmm, watery mouth about drool on the keyboard just by thinking about it)
A Santana surf report cannot go without a photo of āEl Matadorā killing a small wave with his unique style.
And of course, a photo of The Mermaid flying and slashing down a nice wave. Remember, Aurelia teaches yoga Tuesdays and Saturdays at the Sanctuary, you should try one of her classes.
And with this photo of Aurelia checking if I saw her wave Iām going to say good bye. Get your longboards ready for the next few days because it looks like itās going even smallerā¦ and probably onshore too. Either way, come back to check out our surf report, there is always something to show here.
