Yuji dominated this morning both during and after the surf report when I paddled out. He solo carried today’s report.

To excel at surfing Spot X you need to fast and nimble when approaching the waves. The wave is perfect for Yuji’s current surf style.

When it gets small everywhere, Spot X doubles up and wedges hard.

The only spot to find some thick tubes when the swell is lackluster.

Yuji wasn’t pulling punches today. He didn’t jump off even though the cavern engulfed him. He was committed to getting as shacked as possible today.

The conditions couldn’t have been better today. The water was bathtub warm (maybe 84 Fahrenheit) and the wind was light offshore.

Yuji and Kai are two surfers who have this spot wired the most.

We’ve been a little wave-starved since last week when I was shooting, so Yuji was elated to find some more good waves today.

He dug his hand and tail in during this little tube to max-out his time in the shade.

His posture accurately depicts his demeanor today. He was the king of the peak haha.

Spot X is a difficult wave to judge. Sometimes you can take off deep and make it easily. In other cases you can take off at the shoulder and the tube can leave you in the dust. Either way, it is definitely a good place to work on your pumping and barrel riding.

Yuji practicing his initial drive-pump despite the wave running hot. You never know here either because the barrel gets so square so it’s best to pump and fight until you get bucked off.

Spot X is predominantly a right, but you do get occasional sick lefts too.

It’s mostly about getting barreled, but if you grab the right wave it can be good for turns too.

Yuji was in peak form today. His tall posture once again shows his self-confidence this morning.

The wide, thick-lipped tubes are what makes Spot X special.

Kai saw Yuji getting tubed out of his mind and had to go join the fun. Kai is effectively the pioneer and OG of Spot X, but Yuji won the heat between us three today.

Surfing with good friends is more enjoyable than surfing by yourself, because you get to cheer each other on, push each other, and observe different lines and approaches to the waves.

Kai and Yuji enjoying a special moment that captures why us young-bucks love it here so much. A relatively relaxed place with good weather and great waves!

Yuji made out like a bandit today and got tubed enough today to make up for the lackluster conditions over the weekend and Monday.

Alrighty amigos, I hope you enjoyed watching Yuji’s tube-fest as much as I did haha! Tomorrow should be similar so hopefully we get another glimpse at “excellent” conditions from our elusive and somewhat fickle Spot X.
RECENT REPORTS

Good afternoon and Happy Sunday. We saw a nice jump in swell today from yesterday. @tonyzphotos bringing you todays action.

Hi everyone! Welcome to Saturday’s surf report from Panga Drops. The swell definitely began to fill in today. The main challenge was the wind and extreme tides. This morning the tide was low, and the swell was just starting to fill in, but the wind was favorable which was good.
FROM THE ARCHIVES

Hello and welcome back to Tuesdays surf report. @tonyzphotos reporting again today.

Happy Monday and welcome to yet another week from Nica-Land! We had some pretty stiff onshore winds, even from early on, and it only got stronger as the day progressed; so with the very apparent looming dark grey skies moving in our direction and after checking the surf a few times, I figured today was..

Happy Sunday Funday! It’s always fun any given day here, but Sunday is special because it’s a day when all the people, foreign and domestic come out to the beach to celebrate their time off from work, spend time with family and enjoy the beach. Aaaaand there wasn’t a single moment of rain, just sunshine..
