This goofy footer perfectly showcased his “smiley face” artwork on the bottom of his board during this turn. When you can see the bottom of a surfer’s board like this, it means they have a good amount of pressure on rail.
Kevin Cortez was out getting his weight training in this afternoon. You may ask, “What weights?” Well he had to push all that inside slush up and away on this insider.
Lesther showcasing one of his signature truly round, roundhouse cutbacks.
This shredder chucked a perfect fan of spray on this inside right hander.
This guy set up perfectly for this turn, but the risky move of dropping his trailing hand toward the water’s surface. This is fine and dandy if you are well prepared pre-bottom turn to perform a layback snap, but if done on accident it’s easy to lose your balance when dropping your trailing hand down low at the last second.
On an opposite note, this surfer was faced with a much trickier section but demonstrated ideal sequence of location. Play the hand your dealt right?
Lesther laying down some power on rail again. He had a solid session this afternoon.
Jackson was out there too pushing some water and belting lips.
Ah! The elusive tube even managed to manifest for this fortunate rider. He capitalized well on this rare opportunity during this afternoon’s high tide session. He held on all the way until the end, but unfortunately it pinched on him right at the end.
Nooo! A good one without a rider 🙁
Here’s Lesther’s “super combo” of the afternoon. This wave didn’t have a clue what was coming haha.
Here’s lip blast number two.
Dang the inside section really stood up perfect for him too! The wave didn’t do all the work though, Lesther was coiled up after his second move and ready to attack at the first sign of “steepness”.
Then to close it out he sped through a quick inside floater. He really looks like he’s floating here, doing the maneuver justice.
This guy took rotation to the next level on this power hack. Notice how his trailing arm has rotated past his right hip, that’s pretty impressive!
That wraps up Saturday’s surf action! I’m stoked we got a little push today relative to yesterday. Tomorrow looks like it should be similar so that should mean more fun surf. Tony Z is back behind the lens tomorrow, so we’ll have to see what action he brings us 🙂
RECENT REPORTS
Happy Sunday and thanks for tuning in. We had a drop in swell. Light to onshore winds, and some rain. But still had something to surf. @tonyzphotos reporting.
FROM THE ARCHIVES
Welcome back! After yesterdays rare but highly missed and much needed magic swell that came with a nice little break from all the constant onshore winds, it was no surprise to see it back again today. However, there was still some decent swell in the water.
