Nicaragua Surf Report for Friday, October 17, 2008

Hi folks, here we are again with the Friday surf report.  We have had a lot of rain lately and it is still raining down here in Nicaragua, so it is really making it hard for us to figure out something else to do while we have these bad surfing conditions.  Today we took a couple of photos of the bay just to let you know how it looks now since we had more than 30 hours straight of rain.  It was running about waist to chest high on sets and the wind was still ONSHORE.

We took a run up to the main bridge in town because we heard that the river was about to go over the road, but when we got there the water was dropping.  Here is a shot showing how close the river came to blocking the only entrance to get into San Juan del sur.  The red line shows you where it was just 5 minutes before we got there.

Back at the bay, we had a lot of people trying to get some surf in the murky water.  At least everybody got a few waves.  Here is an unknown guy riding one of the few clean ones that we saw coming in today.

Some of the locals made it out to get wet as well.  Here we caught Martin “El Jaboncito” Contreras trying to get some air on this mushy left.

Today we tried to do our best as we do everyday to bring you the best surf action possible, but we are getting so much rain that Come Pan and Lucha Libre decided to have a few beers at one of the Beachfront Restaurants in town.

We went through our archives again today and found this sick and heavy left that we wanted to post.  This is one of the bigger swells we had during the year at Outer Reef.  Actually we didn’t have many but we definitely enjoyed this one.  The conditions should be the same for the next few days but we’ll try to figure out something interesting to do around town, so please check back with us tomorrow.
