Nicaragua Surf Report for Thursday, October 19, 2023

Josh S

Howdy y’all! Thursday surf report coming your way from up the beach at Panga Drops. The tide was quite low, but the wave faces were super clean. It looked fun out there on longer gear.

My brother, John, made his debut return to the lineup today and scored some good rides on a foamie.

The sun was cooking out there at mid-day, so it was a good idea to wear a bucket hat like this guy.

Josh S

This young fella won the short-boarding division today :) The waves were soft and slow out there so he did well to stay on rail through his maneuvers.

Josh S

John trying to give the young dude some competition. John’s been out of the water for a while, but has still retained his natural smooth style.

Josh S

Luca found one of the better waves while I was out shooting. A nice big open canvas to work with.

Josh S

Uh oh! He missed the mini tube section at the corner. It’s rare to see a barrel at main peak Pangas so it’s easy to not see sections like this coming.

Josh S

He stacked some points onto the end of the ride with a nice roundhouse though.

Josh S

Johnny boy got the most waves out there. He got the first wave and the most waves, but I think Luca got the biggest!

Josh S

Smooth and steady. John doesn’t let his bigger frame impede his style.

Josh S

Ah! Even John missed a barrel out there haha. He’s always been better at left barrels :D

Josh S

The young shredder got two back to back lefts with solid carves to close out today’s surf action.

Josh S

Good sequence of rotation from the young shredder at the back, but John stole the camera focus haha!

Josh S

The main peak was definitely the most consistent of the various options at Pangas today, but every now and again there would be a sick wedgey barrel at the beach peak in front of Casa Panga Drops.

We’ve once again lucked out with another offshore day during what is generally an onshore month. It’s been a nice change of weather and the air was finally a bit cooler + less humid. Tomorrow looks like it will be a bit bigger and I think the offshore wind will stick around, so there should be more fun waves on tap!
