Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Welcome to Thursday’s surf report from Panga Drops. Today was our annual Chompipe surf contest. It was a beautiful day and I think everyone partaking had a blast.

Before I get into today's surf content from the contest, I want to take a moment to recognize and appreciate Kenny Smith. Many of you regular viewers are probably familiar with Kenny. He surfed Panga Drops about as regularly as I do Colorados. It is unfortunate that Kenny just recently passed on to greener pastures. Kenny was a great surfer, but he will be most remembered for how kind, generous, and respectful he was. I don't know if I ever saw Kenny get worked up, irrespective of the circumstances he was in. I don't know if he had a mean bone in his body. Most people likely feel the same as me, in that I will remember Kenny the most for how he treated other people. I hope you were smiling down on us from up high and enjoying the comp today Kenny!

The waves were all time for the competition today at Pangas. It was definitely the most fun I've had out there in some time. Even the Pelicans were joining in on the fun.

There was a fair mix of lefts and rights today. If you were patient and careful with where you sat during your heat, then you would eventually get what you were looking for.

Mike Doan got one of the bigger waves of the day. There were a few really solid bombs that swept through. Today's competitors didn't pull any punches.

Derek Thomas showing off his unique style. Derek gets a gold medal in my book for his performance today. I'm pretty sure he surfed the most heats of any surfer today. Maybe 8 to 10 heats in total. That's a lot of paddle time and running back and forth.

The "big kid" division of 9-17yrs was fun to watch. It was a few younger groms and Yuji-boy who is 17 so he had his pride to defend out there haha!

French Fries (the side peak of Pangas) was firing pretty hard during their heat. I'm surprised Yuji didn't make a crazy barrel. He usually has French Fries hard-wired.

The waves were so good that I wished I was in Yuji's heat. This was the window for barrels at French Fries.
