No surfers hit the waves all morning, so I decided to grab some photos of the better sets I saw coming through.
Here’s a squad of surfers checking out the conditions. The one fella on the phone is probably informing his buddy that stayed home of the conditions. “It’s no good brah.”
The ripples running across the face of this right look like they would be ripe for a Mike Doan chop hop haha! I don’t blame him for staying dry today though, it was rough out there.
The wind and swell have both contained a fair amount of Westerly flow the past few days, hence we observe more rights running through the lineup.
Maybe a couple of these waves were surfable? It’s hard to tell when no one is out. I think most folks, myself including, weren’t overly keen to surf after the fun waves from the past two or three days.
A below sea-level double up drainer hitting the North peak. Falling wrong here would be a quick path to Vivian Pellas hospital.
Kaboom! Onshore energy.
The shape still wasn’t all that bad early this morning. It’s too bad the wind wasn’t (and still isn’t at time of writing) offshore, as waves like this would’ve likely had fun barrels.
Well guys we got dealt a dud today. In hindsight, when reviewing the surf this month, I’d still say we still fared better than the forecasts initially called for. I think we were roughly 40% offshore days and 60% onshore days this month, where Surfline, windguru, etc. were calling for 20% offshore and 80% onshore. I think tomorrow is forecasted to be similar to today, but maybe we’ll get another lucky break. Hasta mañana!
RECENT REPORTS
Welcome to 2025 everyone! Happy New Year! Josh back behind the lens for the next few days. I basically pulled an all-nighter and woke up early to surf after the late night fiesta. The lineup was empty even at 8:00am and the waves were fun. I surfed then took photos.
