The rider in yellow linked together about 4 solid maneuvers on his left. He made it look better for shortboards than it probably was out there.
After stringing together a couple of cutbacks out the back, he nearly found some shade on the inside bowl section. I like the way he was thinking here.
To seal the deal on his heroic left, he sliced through one more powerful roundhouse cutback. This might’ve been the best wave of the photo session.
John was also one of today’s surf models. He paddled out on a mid-length and had a blast cruising across the smooth wave-faces.
John didn’t pull any punches and sliced away out there. He’s so tall that he made the Ricky Carroll look like a shortboard.
Pure style and technique during this smooth backhand carve. Notice how he uses his trailing hand as a pivot point to anchor off of through the turn.
A good set up generally yields big spray through the turn. John is going to be tough competition in the upcoming Chompipe contest.
Party wave! These two fellas knew each other so there were no hard feelings regarding the interference. There was room for two here anyways haha!
Now for the turn of the day. John dropped the hammer on this left. I’m surprised he didn’t end up losing a fin here.
John took full advantage of the open canvas that this beautiful left afforded him.
A finale slash from the man in yellow to close today’s surf action.
The sneaker gems out there! Tomorrow is forecasted to be pretty flat, but I’ll still bring you some Halloween surf content from Iguana. Maybe the swell got scared? See ya tomorrow.
RECENT REPORTS
Welcome to 2025 everyone! Happy New Year! Josh back behind the lens for the next few days. I basically pulled an all-nighter and woke up early to surf after the late night fiesta. The lineup was empty even at 8:00am and the waves were fun. I surfed then took photos.
FROM THE ARCHIVES
