Somewhere in Nicaragua

There was a lot of debate today at the playa over the afternoon winds, especially the last couple of days. Bet these two guys are debating whether it’s gonna go back offshore in the afternoon.

Sure the winds have been a little mysterious, but it didn’t keep these people from hitting the surf.

I watched Mike take off from the way outside at the reef when I pulled up today, and he rode this wave for at least 150 yards

This is what it looks likes when you have a leg burner of a wave like this.. time to just cruise in your Jesus Christ pose.

And this is what it looks like stepping off right onto the sand. Not a bad way to end this wave at all!!!

Now if you’ve ever surfed this wave, you know that was a long wave in. Nice one Mike!!

My buddy Todd has been out here just about every day, tearing this place apart.

The infamous outside “cleanup” bowl. Which usually reforms to the inside bowl. Such a fun, rippable wave. This wave has so many faces and moods.

Since the winds were in fact not cooperating toonicely today, I thought I’d head over to the ol’ BC to see what was happening down that way. Always good to keep your inner core nice and tight by trying out the slack line. This chica’s core is obviously engaged and tight as a can be as she easily walks the line with such ease.

Karen and her buddy Carrie came down from Wisconsin for some nice warm weather and tranquility from the states. Looks like they definitely got what they came for! p.s. For any that might not know this, but Karen is also Tony Z’s mom. Give her special nice big warm Nica shout out when and if you see her this week and thank her for giving us such a good person to the community here!

After the winds switched I saw more people coming in, than I did going out. This amigo was betting on the reverse odds. I wonder if how he favored.

I guess the good thing about getting waves here similarly to where you came from still has it’s rewards by being here. 1. we have (more than likely) warmer water than where you came from. 2. We have constant flow of Ice cold Toñas and one of the Best Rum’s in the world here. There are a few more, but you’ll have to come down to see what I’m talking about.

Exihib A from thus said number 1 reason. I know you can’t feel the photos, but trust me, it’s super nice and warm.

Remember that guy I mentioned earlier who was betting on the reverse odds of going out.. well it looks like he faired pretty well.

TZ and crew were among the crowd favorites enjoying some poolside fun at the beach club this afternoon.

I’m not gonna lie, I literally stuck around pretty much all afternoon waiting to get some surfing shots. But by the time I realized it just wasn’t happening… The sun was starting to make that magic transition and the Volleyball crew were getting ready to do battle!

When these guys & gals get together for a game of V-ball on the sand court, it’s no joke! Best time of the day to pull up and enjoy a drink from the beach club bar and watch the intensity of this madness!

This is the true legend behind not only the Volleyball activities here, but a lot of the sports and recreational creativness that goes on around here. Mr Dan!! All stoke, all heart, all laughs and smiles for miles and miles!

Miki is one of the chicas on the court to be reckoned with. She’s as sweet as a rose anytime off the court, but don’t be fooled by her serving and especially setup and spiking game!!!

My new amigo Andy and fellow lens man from Venice Beach (where I used to live) came down with some cool gadgets and gear (I’m a sucker for talking shop about camera gear) and we talked some really cool story this afternoon.

It’s so Fun to shoot people who are normally behind the lens.
