Nicaragua Surf Report for Thursday, December 14, 2023

Josh S

Hi everyone! Welcome to Thursday evenings surf report from Panga Drops. The wind was gnarly during most of the day, but backed off for a nice sunset window once again. The little grom from yesterday was out getting some nuggets again today.

Josh S

Float the section! This was a nice wave, but I think this surfer’s style would’ve been better if both of his lands were evaluated and pointing forward.

Josh S

Lucy stayed fairly active this evening. He mostly cruised across faces and stuck to conservative check turns to maintain her speed. I don’t blame here given how gentle the waves were today.

Josh S

Marty throwing some serious spray regardless of the weak conditions.

Josh S

This surfer managed to find a more critical right that connected to a steep end-section and left nothing on the table with a sharp and deep bottom turn.

This image and the image prior demonstrate the duality of Pangas. Some waves are ropey and rampy, which are great for critical maneuvers. While waves like this one are all about smooth mechanics and patience as the wave and board do their thing.

Josh S

There’s a fine line at Pangas between the perfect amount rail pressure and going overboard (literally) haha

Josh S

Hey hey! Kelsey and Lucy with a sweet party wave. I like Kelsey’s compressed posture and line of sight (down the line) on this right.

Josh S

Our mysto local surfer opted for some creativity with a small but flashy chop-hop for the beach spectators.

The intermediate chica from the boat was out again this evening. Her paddling and pop-up have improved meaningfully, but the next step is to get her vision and upper body on the “turning” program. You can’t turn where you aren’t looking

Kelsey dodging the sunset traffic-flow on the way back out at French fries.

G-rant making a special appearance flying across the face on his last wave of the day. I think Grant and I are two peas in a pod, we both like to go fast and “race” waves.

Josh S

Lucy’s got here punching form dialed in on this top turn, now she can look at “kicking” through her top turns for more power and release.

Josh S

As the grommie opened today’s report, so shall he a close it. The only guy today getting head high waves haha!

Josh S

Ok amigos thanks for following along. I hope you guys had a good one and cruised off into the sunset with as much style as these guys on the pink catamaran. Tomorrow’s looking like it will still be fairly small, but the report will be posted regardless of rain or shine, cold or warm, big or small, haha! Hasta mañana!
