Welcome to the Wednesday surf report.  This is Jairo “Come Pan” Panic and Mateo “Pledge” reporting in. The waves were kind of interesting today. We pulled up to the beach and the waves looked pretty bad. So we paddled out anyways and there were some close outs, but every once in a while a good wave would double-up and just pit. So check it out!

We were stoked today to go to the beach with our good friend Ashley. Here she is on a fun looking left. She is down here all summer working for an all girls surf camp. Could it get any better? I don’t think so…….

Alright, here is one of the little dredgers we were talking about. This is Armando “Codo” Lopez, one of our biggest friends, squeezing into a sweet shack.  How stoked were you buddy?!

Mateo “Pledge” went out there this morning really hungry for some gallo pinto con juevos rancheros and some barrels. Here he is satisfying one of his needs.

Today we thought we would take a break from interviewing all the girls and go and interview one of the best surfers in the water today. This is Rex “La Bestia” Calderon who is 16 years old and lives in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua. He has been surfing for only six years. His favorite beach to surf is Playa Hermosa because the right there gets pretty open. He would like to express his gratitude to his Uncle, because that is who got him into surfing. He said if he could meet any pro surfer it would be Kelly Slater, because he is getting old and still killing it. He said that he is really hungry to win the surf contest this weekend at Playa Santana, so if you are surfing in the contest, look out for this guy. He would also like to thank all of his sponsors for their loyal support. The final question was how does he keep his body in such good shape and he simply responded, “Well, 300 push ups for breakfast everyday”. There you have kids, Dale Pues!

It took a while to process, but we wanted to get some of the NSR fishing shots up (better late than never).  These are from this weekend’s fishing tournament in SJDS.  The NSR crew went out in the “Manana” and held their own against the big boys.  Even though we didn’t win a trophy or a fishing pole, we did have a blast and came home with some delicious fish – and isn’t that the point after all?  This was the first nice Dorado we caught on Saturday.  Check out the colors on that thing.

We stacked out team with some locals and even though they were scared of rods and reels (they use handlines here), we still managed to land a few.  This is Myson, Pancho and Chololo, first boat back on the dock after the first day.  (Chololo prefers to eat Jack over Dorado)

We never got a big dorado, settling instead for high quantities of schoolies. After two days, we landed a respectable 12 dorado and this yellowfin tuna – which was quickly made into sashimi and sushi rolls. Looks like it’s going to be a good year for fishing in Nicaragua.

Hi, this is “Lucha Libre” with the surf report from out here at Maderas. After a day off if i can call it like that because now i am studing on sunday, we headed out to the beach to take some good photos. It’s head high to overhead on sets and the wind was offshore.

Well, it’s Saturday and we are waiting for the big swell that’s supposed to start hitting tomorrow. In the meantime, we are surfing the remnants of this last swell – still solid overhead. It’s been drizzling lightly all day, but the wind has been offshore. Check this out – we documented our very first NSR..

Oh yeah, Hot Carl and Zman in the house and we went looking for waves. We found some fun ones at Colorado this morning. It was head high and glassy before the onshores came up at about 9:30am (damn!)
