Somewhere in Nicaragua

Hi folks, we are the NSR family bringing you the action for today’s surf report.  This morning we headed out to Playa Maderas super early to score some fun waves with no crowd.  The morning was overcast making it a little bit hard for photos but as always we did the best we can to show you how it was.  It was running about waist to chest high on sets with offshore winds, the water was chilly and the jellyfish luckily went away.  Check it out!!!

The lineup was almost empty this morning, there were only about five guys out taking advantage.  Here is one of the locals that took a ride with us to the beach taking this left a little bit late.

Augusto “La Gaviota” Chamorro was part of the show we had out there today.  This guy has been practicing a lot the last two months because this year he wants to win a couple tournaments in the upcoming surf circuit.

“La Bestia” Calderon definitely fell in love.  Today he drove up with us to the beach but he didn’t even paddle out because he preferred to stay with his lovely girlfriend Ana “La Pavana” Cubana.

On the last shot of the day we have Rodolfo “Calibilly” Villareal with a sweet off the top on this left.   The waves might be running about waist to chest high for the next two or three days but fortunately we are hoping to have a push in the swell this weekend.Peace and love!!!

Today we were hoping to have some swell in the morning, so we headed out down south to check this spot but it wasn’t working pretty well. It was running about chest to shoulder high on sets, the wind was strong, the water cold and it was raining a lot too. Check out the lineup.

Here we are with the semifinals and final heats in this contest. The waves got smaller but there are still some head high set waves and It looks like we are going to have many barrels today. The wind is offshore and let’s start with the contest.

Holy January! We’ve got pumping surf AGAIN down here in Nicaragua. The weather guys are calling for a “La Nina” this year. We’ve go no idea what that means, but if January is any indication, we’re stoked! Overhead sets and offshore at Maderas. Check it out.
