PLAYA COLORADO
Whattup people! Welcome back, let’s get right to it. That southerly devil wind blew all night so there was a wicked chop on it from first light on. The waves dropped a bit from yesterday. And while there were a few corners out there this morning there weren’t many takers.
Back home at OB in SF this would have been a typical summer surf day and I would not have hesitated. I realize how spoiled all these years in the Nica offshores have made me that I was not even tempted to get a morning paddle today. Decided to let these old shoulders rest.
The younger guys, especially those down for a short week, on the other hand were still frothing.
Here’s one of the few made waves I of the morning session.
Pontificating on how truly consistent the offshores are down here is a favorite pass time. As I was waiting to get a decent picture, I wondered how many of the last 10 October 21’s have been onshore. Fortunately, we have a searchable archive of photos of the surf every days since 2004. October is the month we get most of our onshore winds. What would be your guess?

So in case you weren’t keeping track 6 out 10 of days on this day in October were offshore. No wonder we haven’t seen many travelers these days. November is another story.
