Not only was this my first swim for 2019, but it’s my first time back treading water for a while now.
I figured it was time to get back to being up close and personal with some of my favorite subjects.
How close is too close… I guess as long as I don’t get run over, I’m good!
The A N I M A L getting some animal style rights this afternoon.
I’ve been digging on the color sprays on the kids boards lately. Of course, green is one of my favorite colors, so I’m a little biased.
There were a good amount of the local kids out ripping and I’d say about an equal other half were the visiting surfers alike.
As you can see, everyone was having fun.
With some decent swell in the water that last couple of days, it’s been called anywhere from pretty fun, to super epic in the afternoons.
You be the judge?
Super low front angle from the water with a tail slide combo always looks nice when looking back through the days shots.
Or even a super close backlit in your face gem like this reminds me why I love swimming with the guys.
They were pulling off ally-oops…
Frontside airs…
Even huge “Super Mans” out there today. Stoked to whitness some of the elite surfing going down during todays session.
With all kinds of potential for big turns and big sweeping wraps, having Los Perros as a backdrop is just the icing on the cake for this really fun surf break.
Lesther bout to go Layback Larry on us.
Although I’m shooting with a 70-200mm lens the closeness is a bit like a facade. The advantage to getting close but out of harms way of some razor sharp fins.
The same applies to a surfer going the opposite direction from me. I can pick them off way down the line. Matt getting ready to do something huge before I get smashed by the section he just passed a turn or two before this frame.
As the high tide was starting to peak, the inside bowl was getting a little more funky. Jeison digging in on a sick bottom turn.
As always, with one of his signature moves, Jeison “Two Chain” busting another sick fins free crack off the top.
Alright amigos, hope you were stoked to see some shots mixed up today from the water. SBS is out for the day ~
RECENT REPORTS
Howdy everyone! Welcome to Thursday’s surf report from Panga Drops. The waves surprised to the upside today. It was slightly larger than I was expecting, and there were hour plus long windows where the wind dropped out.
FROM THE ARCHIVES
Hello everyone, this is Baldo with today’s surf report from Santana beach. I don’t want to sound dramatic but, the world is coming to an end… global warming, pollution, overcrowded surf spots and now this, NO WAVES!
