Nicaragua Surf Report for Saturday, January 31, 2009

Hi folks, this is Lucha Libre Garcia bringing you the action for the Saturday surf report from out here at Playa Maderas.  It looks like the swell dropped a little bit today but there were still some fun waves to be taken.  It was a perfect day to take the big boards out and a couple of surfers did.  It was running about waist to chest high on sets with offshore winds, the water was chilly and the jellyfish finally went away.  Check it out.

Today we had a bunch of international surfers out there trying to catch some good ones.  Here is an unknown rider dropping into a nice right.  The waves were small but they had great form.

The waves were small so I decided to walk around and take a few shots of our nature.  You have to be very careful because you never know when you can get hurt by one of the many animals around.  Check out this beautiful picture of this Iguana feeding itself.

Not many locals were out today because most of them like to ride bigger waves.  This is our very good friend “El Tuzo” Morales smacking the lip on this left.

Not only the animals can be dangerous down here in Nicaragua, a couple of trees do as well if you don’t know exactly where you are driving.  Sometimes you can feel the hangover reaction even if you paddle out in the morning.  These guys hit this tree this morning and it looks like they are going to have a good souvenir bill to remember the rest of their life.  Be careful folks!!!

Our very own “La Baloy” Chamorro has been out of the action for a while because he’s working very hard on his own shop.  He is trying to do something to improve his life, that’s good.  Congratulations my friend!!!

These are the kind of animals that can hurt somebody.  Today we found this amazing pregnant specimen close to Playa Maderas doing its thing.  We didn’t even count how many they were because they were too many to count them.  Watch out pals!!!

On the last shot of the day we have this longboarder who decided to take the big panga out and practice a few maneuvers on it.  The waves might be a little bit bigger tomorrow but do not complain because we are expecting to have a new swell in the water (4-6 feet) on Tuesday for two or three days.  Please, stay tuned with us.
