Today eerily was reminiscent of going back to the beginning. (**ed note – I remember getting a 2MB thumb drive stick that you had to put minutes on weekly just to have Wifi down here back in 2012)…. jajaja think about that for a minute.

So today is obviously about the beginning. The very beginning where WE ALL STARTED (no matter how hard you think you shred now to this day). We all started like this! Even the GOAT Kelly Slater had to practice his “Pop-Ups”!

But thankfully we have some really unique and very talented surf instructors here, who actually give a damn more than just making a quick buck!

I’ve seen surf schools the world over, and I truly believe the instruction goes hand in hand with the world class waves we have here in Nicaragua.

There are people who teach (what they’ve been taught). . .

And there are people like John and Josh who carved their teeth from the very beginning learning from this forgiving and more times than not unforgiving wave (just short about a mile south of here). Nate and his twin sister Charlie looking pretty darn good coming all the way from Edmonton Canada, first time surfing. . . EVER!

Even though they hail from where black diamonds are more common then any other stone, be it Volcom or any other water sport “Icon”, there’s always someone in the background who will put on a show or in this case, “Clinic” on what you can achieve if you put your time in.

Hannah might already have Nicaragua on her mind for the future!

Trevor, the pops of the tribe, showing how it’s done from way up in North America, very very far from any coastline.

Sometimes we often forget who we’re rooting for. We should always be rooting for the ONE HAVING THE MOST FUN!!!!

Ohhhh ya….. one of the first lessons (and should be one of THE most critical lessons in surfing) is SETS. Watcha gonna do with your board when a outside set comes though?

Sorry, but I have to say it……. team work, always makes dreamwork!

See . . even MOM approves!!!

Small, fun and super clean conditions. . . perfect day for getting your beginner surfing in!!!!

The photo that will stand the test of time. . . and will last forever if you’re a water person!Remember, even if you didn’t make the highlights you can always look at the link here for all theDaily Surf Shotsfrom each day, there might be a good chance you’re in there!AND don’t forget to follow us and always check out our current happenings on our daily Instagram stories hereNSRor my photography hereNica Surf Shots
