Pre-meditation surf rituals have existed (that we know of) since the 60’s possibly even earlier. Still going strong in 2019. If my math’s still rocking, that’s pushing 60 years of some pre-shred-a-thon mental awesomeness. Chocoyo, either catching some crabs, or envisioning some sick a$$ maneuvers.
2 for 1 in the foreground, while out the back, the panga peeps are definitely counting their cordobas for the day on their trek back home.
Backlit bottom turns add just that right amount of coolness to any photo, slightly.
But It’s the top turn that bring it home.
Antonella always seems to make any warbly, unfavorable surf look fun!
As for this unknown pale rider, let’s just say he’s keeping his own and even doing a nice little turn in front of carve-mathematician, Carlos de Colorados.
Christie Brinkley, who??? Fun fact of the day… the famous model/actor from the 80’s is now 65 (where’d the time go???)
It’s a good thing they don’t have speed guns here in Nicaragua.
Since we’re getting all nostalgic today, anyone remember Bruce Browns epic surf classic follow up, “Endless Summer II” – featuring, Pat O’Connell, short board expert, and Robert “Wingnut” Weaver, long board surfer. Well, I’m happy to announce, they’re still doing well and living in Nicaragua.
If I remember correctly, I think there was a quote about surfing an airplane wing in one of those classic surf flicks at some point. John Springfield earning his wings!
If I had a cordoba for every unridden wave at PD’s, I’d be able to buy a lot of Nicaraguan quesillo’s.
Papa Nam, in his element. Every day.
RECENT REPORTS
Hey amigos! Welcome to a special Friday surf report. Spot X made its first cameo of 2026.
Hey amigos! Welcome to Thursday’s late morning report from French Fries. The sun was shining and the shape of the waves was better today. The wind was also lighter! (Thankfully)
Hey everyone! Welcome to Wednesday’s surf report from French Fries. The surf was even smaller today and the wind was still strong. That being said the faces of the waves were still fairly smooth at French Fries. It is almost always more protected from the wind there than all other spots on the beach.
FROM THE ARCHIVES
The swell dropped a little bit but not the wind. There were some nice A-frame peaks but the wind was messing everything up… some waves were steep and fast, some others were slow and fat.
