Today we started the day with the International heats and all the competitors were having so much fun out there. Here is Oliver “El Jamon de Mono” Solis with a sick backside barrel.

After the Internatinal first round we had the ladies charging. Here we have Ashley “La Cenicienta” Blaylock commanding the round with a cool shot. She wants to win again the National Circuit and goes up the top of the national ranking.

We’ve never had a contest with a good swell in the water before, this time we do. The news are that Machete pt was going off with this swell and it wasn’t part of the competition. We think next time we have a contest if we have swell we can take advantage of this wave and make it part of the big event.

Yesterday the big gorillas were packing the trush up all day long on the beach. Today they had the day off and decided to paddle out and catch a couple of wave. Who said that gorillas can not surf?

The day was getting hotter and hotter and everybody was feeling it. Tom “El Viejo Pelon” Eberly was one of them and was drinking some beers and was supporting his boys “El Mope” and “La Betia” until the finals. Here he is yelling NSR for first time of his life. By the way he was so excited because 3 of the finalist were riding Eberly Surfboard and he said that they made it to the finals because they were riding surfboard shaped by him.

Into the final in the national contest we have “El Danino” Martinez from Limon, “La Baloy” Chamorro from San Juan del Sur, “El Peluchito” Duarte from Popoyo and “La Bestia” Calderon from San Juan del Sur trying to get the national tittle. Here we have Mario with one of the best maneuvers of the heat, cutting with so much power.

Zamir “El Peluchito” Duarte wanted to be the first surfer from Popoyo to win a contest out here at Maderas and was doing the best to win it. Here he is getting into a nice shack.

But “La Baloy” was out there doing his thing and protecting his last tittle at Maderas. We think all the work he did count at the end because he was surfing pretty well every single heat making some killer moves like this layback.

Yesterday Augusto “La Gaviota” Chamorro couldn’t make it to the third round into the national. Today he got back to the action determinated to win the international contest and this time he made it into the finals with his brother “La Baloy”, “El Mope” and Chris from Popoyo. Here he is with a nice floater.

As always in the surf contest we have a bunch of people coming from everywhere. Today a couple of chicks made it to the beach and wanted to leave their signature on NSR. That one is going to be posted for ever.

The big surprise of the contest was this little kid from Astillero named Joel “El Capuyito” Chavez. He’s only 11 years old and made it to the junior final with maneuvers like this one against “La Bestia” Calderon from San Juan del Sur, “El Brujo” Jacamo from Limon and Cesar “El Enamo” Amador from Popoyo. We think there is a good future for this little kid into the surf competitions in nicaragua.

This time as always in the last few years young Rex “La Bestia” Calderon was the man. He was working hard to be here and wanted to be the number one once again. Here we have a cool sequence of one of his aerial of the contest.

Well guys, lets talk about the final scores. In the woman finals we have Robin Donalson with fourth place, Kristin Moss who got the third place, Liz Hart with the second place and Ashley “La Cenicienta” Blaylock keeping the champion ship. This girl is going to Panama to represent Nicaragua in the Central American Surf Contest.

In the international final we have Chris from Popoyo with the fourth place, “El Mope” from San Juan del Sur who got the third place, “La Baloy” with the second place and his younger brother “La Gaviota” who won this category. Here he is so happy because he got his goal and now he can focous in the upcoming contest in Panama.

So far young Rex “La Bestia” keeps the tittle into one of the tight heats of the day in the junior finals against Cesar Amador from Popoyo who got the second place, Joel “El Capullito” Chavez getting third place and Darwin “El Brujo” with the fourth place. It’s good to know that the juniors have a good surfing level and they are getting better little by little.

Meanwhile “La Baloy” did it again, he had a hard final heat against “La Bestia” Calderon who got second place, “El Danino” Martinez from Limon with the third place and Zamir “El Peluchito” from popoyo with the fourth place. This was a very excited heat because these guys were doing the best representing their own hometown and everyone wanted to take the tittle with them.

At the end of the contest we had the raffle among all the competitors of a surfboard. The lucky lady of the day was Elsy “La Panterita” Marin from San Juan del Sur. Here she is so happy with her new board.

Here we have all the winners of each category, by the way we don’t know if that is a concidence but all of them are from San Juan del Sur. We were Lucha Libre and Come Pan with the whole coverage of this event. Please check back tomorrow.
