As our professional surf photographer Bryan said yersterday, the conditions today were difficult for surfing which, of course, makes it difficult for surf photos. But here in Colorado there are always people who makes it a little bit easier for us the photographers to show some quality surfing.

It was onshore all day. Early in the morning it was glassy, then around 9 am it got really strong, blowing out the waves and everybody’s intention to surf went away with it.

But then around 10 – 10:30 am the wind died down again surprising everyone that was still out there. Suddenly the waves started opening and everybody was happy again.

Don’t get me wrong, it was still onshore and messy but every so often a perfect wave appeared that, if you were in the right spot, it could make your day!

Then later again the wind picked up a little bit, making it hard to differenciate the good waves with the bad ones, so you just had to go for it and, with luck and ability, you could make the drop, make a few turns and finished it off with a nice air.

Doesn’t seem that bad, right?

It wasn’t pretty but you have to learn to read the waves if you want to get better, and that’s why shitty conditions make good surfers.

I decided to check out Panga Drops and found two SUPers fighting with the conditions.

There were a few other surfers trying to find a good line but again, it was messy and choppy by the time I got there.

And what do you do after a couple of hours in the water trying to figure out the waves? You go sit at your Villa, have a snack and relax for the rest of the day… at least that was Jake Del Rosso and friends’ plan was.

Look at the sky, thw whole day was like this, cloudy, stiky and humid, but not as bad as yersterday.

Here is one of the SUPers going full speed on a decent right at Panga Drops.

And here is the other one on a not so decent left… they both rode their waves all the way to shore though.

And that’s it for Wednesday’s report. Hopefully tomorrow it will be better, even though the forecast says it will be the same onshore wind with a little bit smaller waves. Silla!
