The tides was already too high when I got there so, the waves were not that great but still every so often a good set appeared.

Even if the waves were not 5 stars today, you could find the right one that will put a smile on your tan face.

Instead of keep taking photos of not-so-great waves, I decided to take a quick tour to Managua to do some shopping, and the fastest way to do that is to jump on one of these and enjoy the view of my beautiful Nicaragua.

As soon as the plane takes off this is the view you get… the Pacific Ocean and Colorado waves saying “come back soon”.

And I did come back really soon… after only 20 minutes flight to the Managua International Airport (which by car takes usually 2.5 hours!), and 4 hours doing errands, including lunch with friends, I went back on the little plane. Check it out, it can fit up to 12 people plus crew. The best part? it only takes 20 minutes to go back to the beach!

Second best part? The views! Coming from Managua the first thing you will noticed is the Masaya Volcano, which is actually 2 volcanos (Masaya and Santiago) and 3 other extinct craters. With better weather the plane flights right above it and you can see the lava lake bubbling at the bottom, amazing!

You will see Granada City, historically one of Nicaragua’s most important cities, economically and politically. Granada is located on the coast of Lake Nicaragua, with the Isletas Archipelagos, composed by 365 little islands, beautiful place to visit!

Granada is the oldest city in the whole Continental Americas, founded and registered as a city in 1524. It has a rich colonial heritage, seen in its architecture and structure. That humongous building in the center is the Granada Cathedral, and the other one to the left is the San Francisco Church, the oldest church in Granada (and Nicaragua) built in 1524.

A little bit farther you can see Conception Volcano and the shade of Maderas Volcano (bad weather sucks for good photos) the two volcanos that form Ometepe Island on Lake Nicaragua.

If you are staying in one of our Rancho Santana properties, here is Rancho Santana’s Club House overlooking First Peak at Santana beach (it was low tide so it was not a great moment for a photo).

How about checking Rosada point even before you get to one of the beachfront properties we manage? The house on the left isCasa Rock, right in the middle isCasa Brownand the one on the right isCasa Del Sol.

And right when you are about to finish your flight, you pass right in front of Panga Drops at Hacienda Iguana.

And of course, the perfect tube rides of Colorado! Can’t wait to be in the water chasing those barrels.

Thanks Alex Cuadra, General Manager of Costa Esmeralda airport, for the lift, it has been a great experience!I hope all of you have enjoyed it as much as I did. Cheers everyone!!
RECENT REPORTS

Happy Tuesday, The swell picked up overnight as forecasted. We have some slightly overhead sets. Still a bit inconsistent but some good waves when they come. @tonyzphotos reporting.
FROM THE ARCHIVES

Hey everyone, this is Baldo reporting this time from Colorado beach. Parker is on vacation (seems kinda redundant, right? I mean, he lives here!) so I’m covering him on his NSR duties here at Iguana.

Hi everybody, we are surfing in the morning to exploit the light wind. This peak was working again. Looks small, but when you are there the waves looks better. The sets are only three feet high and are coming two waves in every seth. Check it out.

Hola amigos…. The ISA world games have the finals today. The surf countries are so glad to have this waves condition. For now the best competition in the history of the ISA. According to the words of the president of the ISA. The waves were a little bigger and strong. The competitors were paddling out..
