Nicaragua Surf Report for Sunday, July 27, 2008

Welcome to the Sunday surf report. This is Jairo “Come Pan” Panic and Mateo “Guineo” bringing you the surf shots. That’s right, the “Pledge” has been promoted to “Guineo.” A guinea, for those of you who don’t know, is a member of the banana family. Anyways, the waves were running chest high with some head high sets and offshore wind. We have been waiting on possible reef swell this weekend, but it just hasn’t shown itself. Check out what we got!

The first surfing shot of the day we have Ricardo “Kelly Slater” on a fun looking left. Ricardo and his brother made it out there super early to beat the crowd, although, it never even got that crowded later on in the morning.

Rex “La Bestia” Calderon was out there shredding all over the place. Here he is, keeping his board mostly in the wave for a change, with a nice front side slash.

Here we have Larry “Carita de Venado” Davila with a radical off the lip. It looks almost as if he is not going to land it, but trust me he pulled it off really smoothly.

Mateo “Guineo” was out there taking advantage of his last week here in Nicaragua. Here is showing how he has improved his surfing in the past three months.

That’s all we got for today. The last shot we have Rex flying across this right. The waves look like they should be fun tomorrow and for the rest of this week. So check back!

This is Jairo “Come Pan” and Matao “Guineo” introducing you to the inaugural NSR Beach Day. Not all the youngsters in San Juan are surfers or know people who surf. We wanted to take a bunch of kids, like this, out to the beach to introduce them to surfing to a positive light.  It was a beautiful day. The sun was out and the waves were not too big, but big enough to do some lessons.

We had Jairo “Come Pan” Panic and Mateo “Guineo” heading up the surf lessons. Here we are caught in action giving the first group of kids a brief run down of what we are going to do. We also had Carlos Caliente up on the beach in charge of a land games.

Even though “Come Pan” is a body boarder he did an excellent job giving surf instructions. Here he is helping Gregoria get up on her first wave.

Here is an action shot of the beach games. The kids obviously loved the soccer, but before this we had bunch of relay races and an assortment of other fun games.

Alright, here is the official last shot of the day. We had about 30 kids come out to surf and and enjoy the beach. It was super fun and we can't wait to do it again. Keep your ears open cause we are going to try to do it again. “Come Pan” and “Guineo” out!
