I went to Rivas today mainly because I was running low on gas and by the time I came back to the beach, the tide was high and the waves were breaking soft and nice.

At high tide there are not barrels but still you can have a great time with the long, steep walls.

Late afternoon it’s a great time to hang out at the beach, specially if you are at Beach Club were you have a great view of the waves.

The waves break right in front of thePili’sat the Beach Club and at high tide you can see the action very close to you.

By 4:30 pm everyone shows up at the Beach Club to play volleyball, have some drinks or just to meet people and watch the sunset.

And with sunsets like the ones we regularly have here, you’ll probably be High-Fiving your friends every afternoon after a good session of surfing.

Another great thing about sunsets at the Beach Club is that Pili’s has the best Happy Hour Nachos in the area… delicious and fullfilling nachos for only $5 bucks!

Here is Carlos Ayala (@carlosayalanet) enjoying the last few waves of the day… hey, where is Carlitos!!??

Jonathan Trujillo, staying atCasa Rio Studiohas been enjoying these waves for more than a week, and he can’t get enough of them!

Look who came today to watch the sunset with me… my wife Sarah (she is one of NSR’s Reservations Agent!) my three kids and one of my brother-in-laws Jeshua, who is a photographer/graphic designer/content creator (@jeshua,mauldin) that came today visiting from San Antonio, Texas. Welcome cuñado!

Jeshua will be here with us for almost a month so, he might help me a day or two as a guest surf reporter so you all can see his work and, who knows, maybe one of you could hire him for some projects. Check out some of his work atwww.jeshuamauldin.com

Colorado is not just about the quality of the waves, it’s also the consistency… you can come at any tide and you’ll be able to have a great surf session.

Maybe you won’t be getting barreled at high tide but you can mentally practice your line and body posture for when the waves get hollowed.

That’s it for today boys and girls, see you tomorrow with another great day of surfing in Nicaragua!
