Somewhere in Nicaragua
Here we are with the semifinals and final heats in this contest. The waves got smaller but there are still some head high set waves and It looks like we are going to have many barrels today. The wind is offshore and let’s start with the contest.
We started the day with the semifinals (OPEN NATIONALS). Here is Roque
Then, we had the longboard heat, and Armando
Everybody wanted to know who was going to win the contest. Including this horse wacthing the open semifinals.
The juniors heat were commanding by Young Rex but this kid from La Boquita named Guillermo wanted the win the contest too.

The chicks showed out to the contest, I don’t remenber her name but she’s from the US.

Here we are in Junior finals, we have Rex Calderon from San Juan del Sur, Guillermo Rosales from La Boquita, Julio Martinez from Limon and Cesar Amador form Popoyo. Young Rex was destroying every single wave to win another tittle.

Here are the longboard finalist, from left to right we have Jessica she win this contest and she keep her champion ship, El Codo Lopez got second place and Mitchel from North Carolina got third place.

At the end of the contest we raffle a brand new shortboard between all the surfos who were participating in the contest. Here we have the lucky guy Pedro Flores from San Juan del Sur with the number 44. I bet he’s never going to forget that number.

Holy January! We’ve got pumping surf AGAIN down here in Nicaragua. The weather guys are calling for a “La Nina” this year. We’ve go no idea what that means, but if January is any indication, we’re stoked! Overhead sets and offshore at Maderas. Check it out.
