It’s May already and we are still waiting for the sand to do its magic, we just need a good strong swell to move all the sand around, and that swell might be around the corner!

In the mean time, we do what we always do, surf as much as we can no matter the conditions so we are in shape and ready for the season.

You never know, there is always a chance to get pitted here at Colorado, even if it’s on a bodyboard.

The wind was a little sideways making the waves to closed out most of the time but with patient we could find a good shoulder to ride.

No way to go but straight. This is a good practice to get better at the pop up, which will be very helpful when you have a barrel to chase.

This guy is from Argentina, he’s been living in Gigante for a few years now. He learn how to surf here in Nicaragua, started in Amarillo beach, then moved to Pangas and now he’s killing it at Colorado at any size. It’s all about dedication and putting hours!

Little by little the wind calmed down and the waves started to open up more, not enough for a full barrel though.

Ok, let me rephrase it, maybe were some full barrels… but without a way out!

Right before I was leaving the biggest set appeared on the horizon. While everyone started paddling to not get caught on the inside, I managed to get the camera out and ready to get the full action.

The second wave of the set had a nice big wall and this guy took the price for Best Ride Of The Day.

Third wave of the set seemed like it was going to throw a cave around this guy, but he couldn’t hold a high line and got crushed by the lip.

That’s it for today NSR fans. Remember, the season it’s about to start so don’t wait any longer to book your flights and your stay in one of our beautiful houses, Casitas or Condos that we manage here in Hacienda iguana and Rancho Santana. See you soon!

FROM THE ARCHIVES

Feliz Martes amigos! What started out as looking like a much smaller (less swell) kind of day, it was a good thing I trusted my instincts and waited patiently for that medium high tide push. If you’ve been following along, it’s been all about the perfect tide the past few weeks; and today everyone that’s..

Welcome back for the Monday surf report. It was onshore and not how I thought it would look or imagined for today, but then again, I didn’t bother to look at the wind/weather report. Normally I never look (especially after the non stop days of sun shinny weather we’ve been having; that and it’s May…
