Nicaragua Surf Report for Friday, June 21, 2024

Josh S

Hey everyone. Josh back again for Friday’s action at Colorados. The waves were pretty fun this morning. Looks like we are finally over the hill with regard to the crazy onshore conditions haha.

Josh S

The waves were very clean this morning, but actually not as hollow as they may appear. The key to success was taking off as deep as possible to make sure the barrel was sufficiently open for you to exit.

Josh S

How does the whitewater look haha. Donut time!

Josh S

There were a few surfers out this morning, but the crowd was fairly dispersed. A nice snap from this rider.

Josh S

John Gillem weaving around some visitors. Sometimes we gotta give people a little lee-way as surfers especially when we are in the driver seat riding the wave.

Josh S

Slash and flash! Extra style points for this rider here.

Josh S

Hey! Our first real barrel of the morning. Way to lock in here amigo.

Josh S

This is where being on a boogie board is strictly dominated by being on as surfboard. The bodyboard simply can’t set edge and leverage the fins to generate drive across through this barrel. As surfers we can weave the rail while on edge to generate speed, but the same is not possible on boxy bodyboard rails.

Josh S

Sunnies on no problem!

Josh S

Oooohhh! This was a dreamy one. We all (should) like open and square barrels.

Josh S

Barrels were the main attraction, but it was shreddable this morning too.

Josh S

Chuck the slush!

Josh S

Could you lock into the belly of the beast? Maybe now that the worst of the weather SEEMS to have passed, it could be worth getting a ticket and place to stay here to get some barrels with us.
